If your garden has morning or afternoon sun, it’s easier to find options for plants with colorful leaves. Both weigela and ninebark will do fine. And, actually, Rainbow Sensation Weigela does better in hot areas with morning sun and afternoon shade. For golden leaves, check out Sundrop Spirea and Tiger Eye’s Sumac. Barberries have both yellow and red leaves. If you have full shade, your options are limited. Hostas and coral bells are good choices for really shady gardens.
