Can gardenia bushes be trimmed this time of year?

Actually, it’s best to wait until after they flower in the summer since they put on new flower buds in the fall.

If you prune in the spring, you run the risk of ruining this year’s show of flowers. However, if a branch or two are driving you crazy, go ahead. For the rest of the gardenia, wait until the flowers have faded to clean it up for next year.
