Can pruning cause weak stems and few blooms?

Pruning might be the problem.

Here’s a video to help with pruning hydrangeas. That’s interesting that your Annabelle’s really aren’t flowering. They are easy to grow and generally will flower in the sun or part sun. Is it possible that you pruning late in the spring and taking off the flower buds? Both your Lime Lights and Annabelles could be getting too much nitrogen and not enough phosphorous. That will cause weak stems and few flowers.
