My favorite for this type of spot is Jade Patina Hedge Maple. Hedge maples are tough trees! They don’t mind poor soil, dry soil, heat or cold. The branching in the canopy is really quite dense and makes it great for screening. The leaves stay dark green through the summer and turn yellow in the fall. Our planting and care guide will help you get the tree off to a good start. Even though Jade Patina tolerates dry soil, it will need to be watered until established.
