Could you recommend some annual and perennial deer resistant plants?

Trying to figure out deer resistant plants can be so difficult!

Fortunately, there is a good guide for Texas. The Hill Country Master Gardeners have a demonstration garden plant list with notes about ones that are deer resistant. It seems that deer resistant plants have thick or coarse foliage in common. If the foliage looks like lettuce, avoid the plant as the deer will love it. Go with hairy, fuzzy, coarse textured and thick foliage plants instead. Artemesia, salvia, cuphea and lantana are some of the plants that will work in your garden.
