Do I need to cover my Campfire Rose for winter in Zone 4?

Great question!

Even though Campfire Rose is cold hardy to zone 3, I would give it some extra winter protection in Minnesota. If your weather has been dry, give it a good soaking going into winter. Then, mulch well around the base. You can cover it with a rose cone. Or, build a cage with chicken wire and fill with mulch or ground up leaves and cover the rose. A problem with covering up a rose bush is that it gives coverage to rodents. Bait will help solve that problem.
