Do I need to protect my Sweet Cherry Pie tree from Deer?

That would be a really good idea! Deer and rabbits seem to know which plants are favorites and those are the ones they go after.

You should be able to find either wire or heavy plastic fencing along with metal stakes at your hardware store. A Sweet Cherry Pie tree is worth protecting.
