Find a sunny spot in your garden. If you are concerned about getting stuck by a thorn, fold up a newspaper and wrap it around the top when handling the Cabernet Barberry. Dig a hole a little wider and about as deep as the container that it came in. Add a little compost if you have some on hand. After placing the barberry in the hole, pack in the dirt around the roots. Once I have all the dirt filled in, I usually step down around the base of the plant. Then, water well and mulch. Our planting and care guide has additional tips.
