Overhead watering is a common cause of black spot on leaves.

To avoid it, water at the base of the plants. Also, water in the morning rather than at night so the leaves can dry and give your plants plenty of air circulation. However, there are times with hot and humid weather that it just happens. You may notice the leaves falling off. Pick up or rake up to keep leaves with black spot from infecting other leaves on the plant.
