In this zone, you have great options for a wide variety of plants to add to your garden. A smaller maturing magnolia will generally stay under 15’. One I really like is Centennial Blush Star (Magnolia stellata ‘Centennial Blush'). The early season fragrant blush pink flowers are a great start to spring. If you need it to stay a little smaller, no worries. It can easily be pruned. Just be sure to prune right after it flowers so you don’t cut off any flower buds for the next year.
