I purchased several Crème Brûlée Potentillas, but most of the buds and leaves are brown and crispy. Are they dead and require pruning?

That’s a little bit concerning.

It sounds like the Crème Brûlée Potentilla weren’t cared for as well you would want. Are the stems healthy looking or are they also dried up? The plants should at least have healthy stems and leaf buds. Crispy leaves at this time of year aren’t such a problem.
