Is it possible to keep the height no more than 5 feet with pruning?

Absolutely!

Sunset Magic Crapemyrtle will take a few years to get some height on it. When it gets to 5’, it will have established roots allowing you to cut it back early each spring. Then, it will put on new branches and grow to about 5’ each summer. For colder zones in the Midwest that grow crapemyrtles, they dieback each winter. And, in some areas, only reach 5-6’ each year.

Thanks for writing!
