Looking for a dwarf tree for my small yard. Would Centennial Blush Star Magnolia, crapemyrtle, or birch do well?

You should definitely give them a try.

The San Francisco Botanical Garden has a magnolia walk of almost 100 trees and several varieties of crapemyrtles! I’m not certain that a birch tree will grow as well in your area as they do best with cold winters - they are good in zone 3-7. You should check with your local garden center or the botanical garden for local experience growing them.
