Looking to start an oriental garden. How do I get started?

Gardening is always a work in progress whether starting from scratch or with an existing garden and trying new plants and making changes.

That’s one of the things I love about it! An Oriental garden sounds wonderful. A great place to go for ideas are botanical gardens. UC Berkley Asia garden website has images and plant lists and includes cryptomeria, azaleas, and hydrangeas. Are you familiar with the James Irvine Japanese Garden? The images are fantastic. And, here’s a guide to making your Japanese garden drought-resistant and tips and plants that will help make it low maintenance. When shopping for plants, look for ones that do well in zone 8.
