What flowering plants can I plant in full shade?

Shady lawns can be wonderful on hot, summer days. However, they can be a bit tricky when it comes to landscaping.

Hostas are a great start. Have you tried any hydrangeas? Light-O-Day has variegated leaves and lacecap flowers. In acidic soil the flowers will be blue. And, pink in soils with a higher pH. Jetstream Oakleaf Hydrangea seems to do well in light shade or medium shade. It has fragrant flowers in the summer and fantastic, colorful fall leaves. Electric Lights Azaleas will also grow in the shade. If you have a spot with morning sun, try Pink Sparkler Spirea. It has golden leaves with pink flowers. Rainbow Sensation Weigela will also grow in partial shade. If you want more perennials, coral bells, ferns and variegated Solomon’s Seal will also do well.
