Try to get as much dirt as you can with the roots of the seedling when you dig it up. You have a couple of options. It would be best to plant it in a small container and let it happily grow there for a while. Once it gets some size and some good roots, then you can plant it in your garden or yard. The other option is to move it right from the spot by the driveway to its new home in the garden. Again, try to get as much dirt as possible. If the dirt falls off in the move, don’t despair. Try to protect the roots as much as possible and don’t let them dry out in the move to the new home. Then, whether in a container or in the garden, take good care of the seedling while it gets settled in.
