Start with Sky High Juniper and place them where you must have screening year-round. Then, add in some flowering trees. Ones that don’t take up a lot of space are Centennial Blush Star Magnolia, Standing Ovation Serviceberry and Gladiator Crabapple. If a space has problems with drainage, Parkland Pillar Birch is ideal. Once the trees are in place, add in some large shrubs. A viburnum would be on the top on my list. Here’s some other ideas – shrubs for zone 6.
