When is the best time to move my hydrangea?

This time of year, you really need to pay attention to the forecast when transplanting.

If there is mild weather coming up with a good rain in the forecast, you can go ahead and move it late fall. It’s very important to dig a good hole, keep as much of the dirt around the roots as possible, plant it, pack in the dirt around the roots and base, water well, and mulch. Then, let the rain help it get settled in. If you can’t work around the weather, wait for early spring when you see the first signs of small leaf buds.
