When is the best time to move my weigela in Zone 6?

When is the best time to move my weigela in Zone 6?

It all depends on the forecast and how gutsy of a gardener you are!

It would be best to wait until early to mid-spring to move the weigela. If you wait, you won’t run as big of a risk of damaging the roots and killing the plant. If you want to go ahead and move it now, be certain the person helping you digs a good hole. Then, does a good job of digging out the shrub and keeping the dirt around the roots. Keep reminding your helper to protect the roots! Once it is moved to the new home, pack the dirt in around the roots. Water well and mulch. Then, water periodically during the winter.

Good luck!
