Do it right away while the ground temperature is still warm and the Strawberry Sundae roots can get settled in for winter. It will be important to dig a good hole, add compost and really fill in around the roots with the combination of dirt and compost. If you leave air pockets around the roots, you run the risk of freezing the roots and killing the plant this winter. Water well and mulch. A sunny spot will help it grow more flowers. The fall color really depends on the night temperatures. It gets more color with cooler temperatures.
