It all depends!

If you want fragrant flowers, I would plant Sweet Star Gardenia. Coppertone Distylium would look nice with the brick. For a plant that flowers in the heat of summer, check out Blue Puffball Vitex. Have you thought about adding a container to this bed with a flowering shrub? Here are a few ideas.
