Why do my peony buds never open?

That’s happened in my garden.

It could mean it’s planted too deep and needs to be dug up and replanted. If it’s too hot and dry now, it’s fine to wait until fall. When you replant it, pick a sunny spot and barely cover the roots with dirt. Also, give it plenty of water in the spring. Plants put a lot of energy into growing flower buds and require extra water. Make those changes and you should have flowers next year.
