While grass does best when sprinkler systems are set to come on every day or every other day, it isn’t the same for shrubs and trees. They are better off with a deep soaking once a week to help the roots grow. That can happen if the water isn’t draining away and is puddling around the roots. To check, go ahead and dig up one of the plants. If the roots are black and mushy, they are receiving too much water. If the roots are light brown and brittle, they are too dry and there is a problem with the irrigation system.
I hope these tips help.
